Diagnosis

Diagnosis can be done before the baby is born. Two types of tests that can determine if your child may have Down Syndrome are Screening and Diagnostic tests.
Screening
- Sonograms are usually performed between 15-20 weeks in the pregnancy. This screening shows some physical traits that are heplful in calculating the risk of Down Syndrome.
Diagnostic
Three diagnostic test are available
- Amniocentesis is performed between 12 and 20 weeks
- Chorionic Villis Sampling (CVS)is conducted between 8 to 12 weeks
- Percutaneous Umbilical Blood Sampling (PUBS) is performed after 20 weeks
